Nigel Farage and Fred Siriex were embroiled in a frosty debate during Monday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity when conversation in the camp turned to Brexit.

Frenchman and ardent Remainer Siriex had been vocal in his criticism of Brexit prior to entering the jungle and Farage was well-prepared to face questions about his political stance.

The debate arose when Josie Gibson asked Farage was former PM – and soon-to-be GB News presenter – Boris Johnson was like out of the limelight.

“Entertaining… in small doses,” Farage replied. “(He’s) surprisingly introverted. You see this big act, fluffing the hair… surprising.”

Farage went on with his honest answer: “I think he’s one of the most disorganised human beings that possibly ever lived. The whole thing’s bloody chaos. Shambles.”

The atmosphere in the camp soon took a turn, however, when Siriex chimed into the conversation.

“What’s the benefit of Brexit then?” Siriex quizzed. “If you are an average person from Britain, what’s the benefit?”

Farage defiantly replied: “To know that we’re independent, we stand on our own two feet in the world.”

An unconvinced Siriex hit back: “Brexit was about immigration, I remember your poster. I thought it was shameful what you did Nigel. Shameful.”

“Sadly, sadly it was absolutely true,” an unwavering Farage replied. “It was a poster showing mass young men moving illegally across borders.”

“But it was about demonising migrants,” Siriex argued to which Farage refuted: “No it wasn’t. In your view it was, but it wasn’t.”

Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, Farage was able to reflect on the conversation away from the presence of his campmates.

He explained: “I knew it wouldn’t take long, I knew politics would rear its head as indeed it did. And Fred feels very strongly about it.”

Back in the camp, the debate rolled on as Farage continued: “Brexit is about one thing and one thing only; being self-governing. We’re in charge.

“We can get it right, we can make an absolute mess of it but we’re in charge and the people who make those decisions we can hire and fire at elections where they have real power.”

“I think the average person in the UK has lost out because of what you’ve done,” Siriex hit back but Farage stood firm: “They haven’t lost out.”

Later, Siriex also took to the Bush Telegraph to share his own opinions on the clash with Farage.

He said to the camera: “Look, Nigel Farage is in the jungle with me. We’re bound to have this conversation.

“At the end of the day nothing is going to change, Nigel believes what he believes, I believe what I believe. It was only a matter of time.”
